Mac 'n cheese, with its creamy, gooey texture and cheesy goodness, is a universally beloved dish. But for those who crave a bit of spice in their culinary escapades, the idea of enhancing this classic with our Jackanapes Carolina Reaper hot sauce kick might sound like a dare. However, fear not! With the right approach, you can achieve a harmonious symphony of flavours that will leave your taste buds tingling with excitement.
Ingredients
- 50g butter
- 50g flour
- 250g cheddar cheese
- 50g parmesan
- 400g macaroni
- 500g milk
- 30g breadcrumbs
- ½ teaspoon English mustard
- Dash of jackanapes Carolina reaper hot sauce
Instructions
Before you begin, you will want to preheat the oven to 200C (400F). Next up, add the macaroni to a saucepan with water and a pinch of salt and bring to a simmer at a low temperature.
Add the butter to a medium hot pan until melted, then add the flour a bit at a time, mixing together until both are combined into a rue.
Add the milk to the rue a splash at a time and whisk until smooth. Note: Adding a bit at a time prevents lumps appearing.
Turn down the hob heat to a low temperature. Add the cheddar cheese, ½ teaspoon of English mustard, and more importantly, our Jackanapes Carolina Reaper. (We recommend adding a little at a time and tasting! It's rather hot!)
Once the macaroni is cooked, drain and add the to the pan and mix well with the sauce.
Transfer to an ovenproof dish, cover with the breadcrumbs and parmesan and bake for 20 mins at 200C.
